AI Coding Tools

TopArrow apps can be modified with AI coding tools. Any of the following will work — pick the one you are comfortable with.

Trae

An editor from ByteDance, with the interface available in English and Chinese.

Cline

An open-source VS Code plugin. You choose and connect your own model, and pay the model provider by usage.

GitHub Copilot

A plugin from GitHub for VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs and others.

Lingma

Editor plugin

A plugin from Alibaba Cloud for VS Code and JetBrains IDEs, with a free tier for individual use.

Claude Code

Command line

A command-line tool from Anthropic. You use it in a terminal, and it can change several files in one go.

OpenAI Codex

Command line

A command-line tool from OpenAI. You use it in a terminal, and can also hand a task to the cloud and check the result later.

Which one should you use? TopArrow does not recommend any one of them — all of the above can modify TopArrow apps. Each card shows what form the tool takes, so pick whichever suits you. Switching later costs you nothing.

How to modify a TopArrow app

  1. 1

In TopArrow, find the app and open its code folder.

  2. 2

Open that folder in your AI coding tool.

  3. 3

Say what you want in one sentence, for example "add a field for where I met this person".

  4. 4

Go back to TopArrow and refresh. The change is live.

TopArrow apps deliberately keep a simple structure and readable code, so AI is less likely to get it wrong. That matters far more than piling on features.

Never done this before?

Install TopArrow first. It comes with videos that walk you through making a change from scratch, so you can just follow along.
